Kelly Kavanaugh, MPH, CHES joins the North Carolina Division of Public Health from the South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control where she served as a Program Evaluator within the Division of Diabetes and Heart Disease Management. Prior to this role, Kelly served as the Active Living Consultant for DHEC where she facilitated the South Carolina Health + Planning Advisory Committee and collaborated with statewide partners to provide training, technical assistance, and evaluation on integrating healthy eating and active living policy recommendations into planning principles. In this position, Kelly collaborated on several initiatives including the National Physical Activity Plan’s Transportation, Land Use, and Community Design sector and the Active Living Research’s Executive Program Committee. She has a Master’s in Public Health from the University of South Carolina and has over nine years of community engagement experience. Kelly is also a member and past chair of the South Carolina Public Health Association’s Health Education Section. In her spare time, Kelly enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and exploring local parks and coffee shops.
